What is Dry Ice Blasting?

Dry ice blasting is similar to sand blasting and soda blasting, where a medium is accelerated in a pressurized air stream, but that is the only similarity.  Becoming more widely known, dry ice blasting is a process using pressure to force rice sized pellets of dry ice (frozen CO2) onto a surface to remove dirt, grease and a variety of substances.  The velocity of this action causes the rapid removal of unwanted substances without damage to the original object and leaves no secondary media to be cleaned up.  Dry ice blasting is rapidly becoming the choice cleaning for industry looking for a superior clean, a process safe for the environment and a quicker cleaning method.  Dry ice blasting has many unique and superior qualities than traditional blasting methods.

  • contains no secondary contaminants like solvents or grit and is environmentally friendly

  • is approved for use in the food and medical industries due its clean nature

  • mainly requires no item disassembly or production downtime

  • can be used without damaging mechanical parts

  • can be used with active electrical processes with no fire hazards

  • is as aggressive as removing tooling weld slag, as gentle as dusting a smoke damaged book
